Yes. Your NHBC warranty is valuable, but it only covers certain defects and has a specific claims process. A snagging survey documents issues clearly and promptly - giving you the strongest possible position when asking your developer to make repairs before the warranty route becomes necessary.

Ideally immediately after legal completion, while you have the most leverage with your developer. We recommend no later than six months after moving in. We can still inspect after that, but developers become less responsive over time.

Developers have different snagging guidance but most expect cosmetic snags (paint scuffs, scratches etc.) to be reported within 7 days as after this it can be difficult to determine whether they were part of the construction phase or caused as you moved into the property.
